This is the true story of my childhood. I was born right after the United States entered World War II.I lived in an impoverished coal mining region of Western Pennsylvania. My dad worked at VESTA 4 Coal Mine, the largest bituminous coal mine in the world.
Step into my time machine and set the dial for April 1942 and follow me back to those yesteryears before television, computers, cell phones, video games and internet. Back to a time and place where we were so poor our toys were a tin can and a flat rock, sling shots and rubber band guns made from old car inner tubes and just games like cops & robbers.
